Music

I both play and listen to music. I grew up in a house where there wasn't much music played, and my main exposure came in the couple of months in the mid-80s when I listened to the radio while geeking on my Commodore 64. That involved listening to Tears for Fears, Cyndi Lauper, Talking Heads, and so on. "Everybody Wants to Rule The World" by Tears for Fears is permanently linked to the C-64 game "Fort Apocalypse" thanks to this exposure in my formative years.

Nowadays I play the banjo and the mandolin. I like to try to play most of the music I listen to on the instruments, so I end up fooling with classical, rock, jazz and bluegrass a lot. I'm yet to make an ambient/trance track, but I'm working on it.

Thanks to my girlfriend, I now listen to the local college rock station a lot (KTCL in Fort Collins, Colorado), and consequently I have increased my exposure to Hootie, Joan Osborne, Soundgarden, Dada and other heavy-rotation artists. They don't play enough Pink Floyd for my liking.

My all-time favourite people to listen to, though, are Bela Fleck, Tony Trischka, and J.S. Bach.

One day I'll scan my CD covers and have my pants sued off, just 'cos I like the sound of having well-dressed lawyers take my pants off.
