We're Special

I started thinking about the things that aren't in Perl.
XML adoption seems slow in Perl.
Does anyone care about Unicode?
Where are our Java Beans[tm] and similar massive frameworks?
Why are there only 1.667 people working on meshing CORBA with Perl?
Two possibilities: we're failing our programmers, or our programmers don't care.
