XML
Others say: "Like SGML, only simpler."
I say: "Like SGML, only enormously hyped."
No easier to parse. Still need nasty-ass systems to do it right.
Lots of lies.
Much of the hype assumes XML parsers are already fast and ubiquitous on all languages.
I've only found specific situations that need it: cross-application and with multiple languages that support XML (e.g., RDF).
