WhiteWolf Gaming Index Assamite Character Concepts
By Mant

With all this talk of how Assimites are so two dimentional and stereotypes I thought I would knock up some character concepts that were compatible with VRev. Although a couple talk abuot the Path of Blood there is no reason the character couldn't be on Humanity and beleif or strive for the same thing.

The Preacher
The Path of Blood is about converting vampires as well as killing them. For this character every dead vampire is a dead potential convert. Of course the Elders are so entrenched in their beleifs there is little hope for them, but the young have such potential. Especially the clanless and the Anarchs. This character doesn't just preach with words, but through example. By helping and aiding the potential converts he can win their respect, their trust and finally win their hearts and minds to the cause of Haquim.

The Intelligence Officer
How do the Assimites know where to find their targets, and know what to expect when they try to take them down? Thats this characters job, and its a risky one. The IO may have to go undercover as a member of another clan, higher Nosferatu informants without giving away who he is, trick information from Harpies in Elysium or plain trail their marks. They have to be skilled in social situations and coveing their tracks. Maybe they are after information on a specific target, or maybe they are sent into a general "troublespot". Once they have the information they must get it to the clan member performing the hit.

The Negotiator
Assimites don't need contracts these days, but they still take them. Kindred are know for their duplicity and complex plots, and a skilled killer may be rather naive when it comes to politics. The Negotiator handles the contracts between the Assaisins and the clients. Its more than just getting a good deal, the Negotiator is trying to get and understand of the bigger picture involved with the hit, and make sure the Clan isn't being double crossed. The more knowledge the Clan has about its enemies the better. He must also be careful to make sure the Assimite doing the hit is up to the job, getting his clanmates killed could get him into serious trouble. Conversly telling them they aren't up to the hit is a going to earn him resentment amoungst his Clan and he must walk a difficult line.

The Researcher
The Path of Blood is heavily into finding knowledge often hiden. The Researcher is much like a Sabbat Noddist, seeking out hidden lore on Caine, Haquim, and the ancients. Understanding can bring enlightment, and only an enlightened Clan Assimite can win. Knolwedge of the resting places of ancients can help Clan Members adavnce. All this information is going to be hard and dangerous to get hold of.

The Magi
While Magi (Viziers) don't go out on hits, that doesn't mean that they don't have things they want or need to do. Magical research could require getting hold of strange or bizzare componets, traking down lost lore or maybe just field testing a new Thaum ritual. The Magi may wish to meet with other magic workers (perhaps a Sorcerer or an Ahl-i-batin Magi) which could be a risk and dangerous thing, but the rewards could be great.

The Recruiter
Recruiting a mortal for Clan Assimite is serious buisness. They must be skilled, and have the right mindset. Not only that these people work in dangerous profesions. The only way to know if they are any good is to see them in action. That involves watching government agents, mercenaries and terrorists at work. Remeber that many of these factions may already be under Kindred influence and they will not be pleased that an Assimite is poking around. More than just skill, the recruiter must understand these people minds. That often involves becoming close to them.

The Financier
Running a war isn't cheap, and funding a Jyhad is even worse. Transportation, facilites and weapons all need to be aquired somehow, often involving aquiring the money first. For a Clan with so many enemies long term ownership of corportaions is too open to being descovered. Instead the Financier has to constantly change their source of income and sources of supplies, and do this in a way that leaves no trail back to the Clan and doesn't cause trouble with other supernatural factions. At least, doesn't cause trouble that you can't deal with.

The Prophet
A holy man who wages the war of the Clan in a different area, not the body but the soul. Tyring to understand and interpret the will of Haquim for the Clan, as the leaders make choices based as much on the spiritual as the temporal. The Prophet tries to understan Haquim's word, and what he wishes for his children. Also his plans may include the other factions in the world of darkness, the Children of Caine to be sure, but what about the others? The Prophet also tries to spread enlightment through the Clan, teaching the other Assimites to understand the teachings of Haquim.

The Believer
During their mortal life this character believed passionately in the cause they fought for. While as an Assimite they understand their new cause, they have lost none of the beleif in their old one, be it their government, their country or their religion. When not performing duties for the Clan they do everything in their power to assist the cause of thier mortal life, be it aiding their old terrorist organisation or uncovering information for their former government department. If this means workinf with, or against, other Kindred then they will do so.
